If you've expanded your library of ships and would like to pick a different one, click the "Choose Ship" button. Pick a new ship from your "Ships" folder.
Note: the "Speedster" and "Saucer" ships that came with Space Joust should always stay in the "Ships" folder.
Ship Characteristics Slider Controls
Acceleration -Controls the force of acceleration applied to the ship when the thrust key is pressed. When the "Newtonian Ship Motion" universe setting is on, bigger ships need a larger Acceleration value to get the ship moving.
Top Speed - When the "Newtonian Ship Motion" universe setting is off, this control limits the top speed of the ship. When the "Newtonian Ship Motion" universe setting is on, there is no top speed limit.
Drag - Controls how quickly a ship comes to a halt when the thrust key is not pressed.
Photon Speed - Controls how fast the ship's photons fly.
Artificial Intelligence - Controls the level of intelligence the ship uses to fly with.
Level 0 - Manual. You have complete control of the ship
Level 1 - Automatically shoots when other ship is targeted and in range.
Level 2 - Level 1 plus automatic targeting
Level 3 - Level 1 and 2 plus automatic thrusting
Level 4 - Level 1, 2 and 3 plus gets off other ship when they are touching
Level 5 - Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 plus avoids other ship's shots.
To set Space Joust for two-player mode, set the "Artificial Intelligence" for both ships to 0.
To set Space Joust for one-player mode, turn up the "Artificial Intelligence" for one of the ships and leave your ship at 0.
To set Space Joust for no-player mode, turn up the "Artificial Intelligence" for both ships.
Universe - Takes you to the universe settings screen.
Controls - Opens a dialog that lets you set the keys for ship control.
 
There is a limit to how many keys can be pressed down on the keyboard at once. The "Good Better Best" meter helps you to get the best configuration for your ship control keys.
